BKO announces a new Youth League for the forthcoming 2010-11 season

We regret to announce that, while running in the Sprint Race at Bicton College on the first day of the Jan Kjellstrom Orienteering Festival on Good Friday 2nd April 2010, one of our members, Dave Stubbs, collapsed and died.  Dave had orienteered for many years and was both an active competitor, organiser and event controller.  I'm sure we all will wish to join in sending condolences t

Friday 26th February - Club AGM and Annual Dinner

As announced in the January newsletter, our club’s AGM and Annual Dinner will be taking place at Hurst Village Hall, in the village of Hurst between Reading and Wokingham.  The AGM provides club members a chance to review the past year and consider details of the club’s finances.

Grade 2 Controllers Course - 5th December

There will be a Grade 2 controllers course on Saturday 5th December at Longmoor camp, Hampshire.  There will be no charge for the course, it will take most of a day and will include both workshop and outdoor exercises.  Timing to be confirmed nearer the date.  This is open to all entrants, but priority will be given to SCOA members in the (unlikely) event of oversubscr

SCOA Junior Squad Half Term Event - Wednesday 28th October

The SCOA Junior Squad are organising an event on Wednesday 28th October at Bagshot Heath near Lightwater in Surrey. This forms part of the military mid-week league but the event is open to everyone. 4 courses will be available (Brown, Blue, Light Green and Red) at the bargain price of £2.50 (plus £1 emit card hire if needed).

We have noticed that details of our Permanent Courses, used by beginners, but also by those trying to improve or train on their own, were missing from our web site. These courses have been established by local volunteers in conjunction with the local Council.

Congratulations to everybody who went down to the New Forest and ran in and/or helped with the British Championships this weekend. A great weekend with sunshine and fast running.
