Liz Turbin and I arranged for the TV programme Celebrity Keep Fit Club to do an orienteering exercise at Dinton Pastures on Sunday.
Filming went OK . The course was planned by me and Liz Turbin. BKO supplied maps and Emit equipment. Denise Harper came down on the day and gave us a very welcome hand and took lots of pictures.
The event as you will see is not orienteering as we know it. The TV producers wanted to maintain 2 teams with one map and one compass and one emit card per team. In addition the emit stake was not at the control site.
BOF rules---------- but not at this event.
The teams had to arrange for it to be found!! All team stuff. The celebs were beginners and chose some very odd directions. But they enjoyed it and finished OK and in good spirits. Anne Diamond did not take part due to "family problems" (Today we heard about her controversial operation) and Russell Grant's partner (or was it his mother?) has died so he was not there.
Perhaps the programme may give ideas for corporate team building exercises.
The orienteering will be shown on Tuesday 28th February 2006 on ITV 1 at 8 pm.
