Performance Event 3: TVOC 22/10/11: PPS Scores

The club had a strong presence at the TVOC event on Sunday. We had 35 senior (age 16+) members competing, plus 2 juniors on White and 3 on Yellow, which was a great turnout. Was the thought of gaining a PPS score too tempting to miss?! It looks like ranking points were harder to get this time than at the Hawley event. Our more regular competitors were not so close to their average on this occasion, and it’s the improvers amongst our newer members who have reached the podium.

The Hot ROD awards for this event go to:

 GOLD Award

 Simon Woodley

  122.5%

 SILVER Award

 Gina Starling

  115.7%

 BRONZE Award

 Graham Farfall

  107.2%

These are all very high scores, so well done to each of these three. Simon and Graham had four counting scores previously, so they are definitely improving fast. Gina already has six scores, but had a superb run to finish 2nd on Green behind a very fast M55. Her percentage would have been enough to win Gold at most events. A Mention in Dispatches is given also for the 100%+ results of Annika Hermik and Derick Mercer.

Results from this event can be found at PE3: TVOC PPS Scores. The full season's PPS results so far are in an attached spreadsheet at this link.

Now that we have had three Events, the Performance League swings into action. There is now a new shaded column on the right of the spreadsheet, showing the average of each competitor’s RP% scores across the three Events so far. This will update automatically after each Event from here on. The score is shown to two decimal places, in case we get some tight finishes at the end! Note that for the League, a maximum single event score of 105% is used in the calculation. The League leaderboard has David Jukes, Simon Turton and Keith Ellis making the early running, but expect significant changes once more people gain three counting scores. With three Performance Events still to come, there is still plenty of time for people to compete in this competition. We also have an additional seven members who have now achieved three ranking scores, and will qualify for PPS scores at future Events.

This Event was also the semi-final of the Performance Cup. Six members running on Sunday had qualified for the semi-final at the previous Event: Simon Turton, David Jukes, Ken Ricketts, Clive Jenkins, Graham Farfall and Annika Hermik. The three members (50% of qualifiers) through to the Cup Final based on Sunday's results are: Clive Jenkins, Graham Farhall and Annika Hermik, who ‘knocked out' the others on the day. Their result from Sunday is shown in italics to show their qualification. These three will now contest the Cup Final at our next Performance Event, the November Classic on the 6th November. Congratulations to each of them, and I hope we have a great Final in the New Forest. The Cup is quite hard to win, as each individual’s target RP% changes after each round, so it needs consistency at each Event.

Let’s hope for a large turnout of members again at the November Classic. See you there!
