Berkshire Orienteers

The OOCup is a long-established 5-day international orienteering event held each year in Slovenia since 1991. However, it was held in France in 2021 and, this year, in Sweden. When asked why, they said they were ‘running out of new good areas in Slovenia’.  We now have a report on how two BKO members coped in the complex Swedish terrain. Congratulations to the BKO Junior team who came third in the Yvette Baker Shield finals - the national inter-club junior competition where the smaller clubs compete for the Shield and larger clubs for the Trophy. This year the event was in a very complex area - Irchester country park. The woodlands are full of parallel ridges (old iron workings), some several metres high and with very steep sides.
